Balmore House - Edinburgh

This small, family-run guest house is in the Tollcross area of the city, within easy reach of Edinburgh’s main attractions, including the castle, theatres and shops. Balmore House offers good-value accommodation, with breakfast included. Behind the house is Union Canal, which boasts beautiful walks and waterside restaurants. The late Victorian house is fully refurbished to provide all modern comforts, including free Wi-Fi. Balmore has maintained many of its original features, including a wrought-iron staircase, chandeliers and ornate cornices. There is limited free parking.

If you would prefer a very modern room, please ask for Bowmore, Balmore's neighbouring property, which has been refurbished with oak wooden floors, simple decoration and modern furniture and again all en suite.

The Tollcross area provides all amenities you may require, including cinemas (independent and main stream), more than one theatre, leisure centres and ten-pin bowling. You can also enjoy the vast park area nearby, The Meadows, which is a great place to relax, play tennis or, occasionally, visit the local festivals. The house is on a good bus route for further afield attractions such as Roslyn Chapel, Portobello Beach, Cramond and its island, and also the Britannia and The Botanic gardens. The area is particularly great for eating out, so at the end of a long day sight seeing, it's good to know you will have a vast choice of places to eat at all different prices to suit your budget.

By Bus From the airport: Take the Airlink bus service to the city centre. Then take either bus 10 or 27 to the hotel’s street.

Breakfast is served in the lovely conservatory. Bright and welcoming, even on the dullest days, here you can enjoy a good selection of cooked breakfasts. Toast and cereals are also available.

Only guests checked into the guest house may sleep there. Guests cannot allow others to stay in their room overnight. Rooms are cleaned between 10:00 and 15:00. You must not be in your room between these times. If you arrive after 21:00, Balmore House will add an additional cost to your bill.
