The Salisbury Hotel is about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) from Waverley Station and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from St Andrews Bus Station. The hotel is a few steps from the main bus route in and out of the city. The Newington and Southside area of the city is cosmopolitan, with many interesting shops and bars within walking distance. Arthur’s Seat and Salisbury Craggs are located within Queens Park, which is 5 minutes away.

By Car: - We are located off the A7, the main route into the city of Edinburgh. There is limited off-street parking available for our guests. By Bus: We are situated on a main bus route, and the buses you can take from Princes Street or North Bridge (around the corner from Waverley Station/foot of Princes Street) are: 3, 5, 7, 8, 31, 37, 37A, and 49. Please get off at the first bus stop on Minto Street and turn left (towards the traffic lights) when you step off the bus. We are just around the corner on the left-hand side of Salisbury Road.

Gabbro is a family-owned, delightful neighbourhood bistro serving good-quality, locally sourced seasonal ingredients. There are beers, well-priced wines, and champagne. Breakfast is a well-stocked continental buffet with fresh juices, cereals and fruit compotes with organic yogurts, fresh fruit salads, home-baked breakfast slices and pastries. A wide selection of hot items is cooked-to-order from the grill, including a full Scottish grill, fresh haddock or kippers and many others. Gabbro is open for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 Tuesday to Saturday. Dinner is from 18:00 to 21:00 Tuesday to Thursday; and from 18:00 to 21:30 Friday to Saturday. Sunday lunch is from 12:00 to 15:00. The beer garden is the only designated smoking area on the premises.
