Originally built in the 1890s, this charming Victorian house is centrally located within a mile and a half (ca 2.4 km) of Edinburgh’s major attractions, including the Castle and the Royal Mile. Originally a sea merchants’ house, the Edinburgh Thistle Guest House now provides 8 recently refurbished rooms, available as single, double, twin and family. Start each morning of your stay with a delicious continental breakfast before heading out to discover all that Edinburgh has to offer. Overlooking Leith Links, originally a golf course in the 15th century, the house is also close to the Royal Museum of Scotland and The Palace of Holyrood House. Furthermore, the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed at Leith, which is only a 10 minute walk away, along with the finest fish restaurants and wine bars.

Look out onto the tree-covered Leith Links, originally a golf course back in the 15th century where golf championships were played. Historic buildings, castles, hills, the Royal Mile, and many tourist attractions are only a 10 minute bus ride away. Local amenities in Leith include quality shopping, restaurants, bars, cafes, nightlife and lots of sightseeing.

We are 10 minutes by bus from central Edinburgh. From Princess Mall(train Station) a taxi will cost approx GBP 5. A bus 12 0r 25 will bring you yards from our door step costing approx 90pence per person travelling. For Airport arrivals, either a airport taxi or airport bus are readily available outside of the airport. Taxi can be an expensive option, however airport bus's are very reasonable. We are approx 30 mins from the airport. Travelling from the South - A68 or A702 Travelling from the North - A9 then M90 Travelling from the East - A1 Travelling from the West - M8 Follow signs for "Leith" we are situated overlooking "Leith Links Park". From city centre, Bus and Waverly train station - bus number 12 or 25. From the airport you can take a taxi or the airport bus into the city centre, then a bus or taxi to Leith Links. 5 - 10 minutes from city centre to Leith Links by bus, car or taxi.

Please be aware that payment is required on arrival. Edinburgh Thistle Guest House will add an additional cost to payments made by credit or debit card. Check-in is between 13:30 and 16:30. Please specify your arrival time when booking. Check-in outside these times must be mentioned on your booking form. If you do not do this and arrive after 16:30, the guest house has the right to cancel the booking.
