The hotel is situated on the site of an old farmhouse dating back hundreds of years. It takes its name from the ancient woodland area behind the building, which was known as Lyzzick Wood. It is thought that this stems from medieval times and the name means light oak. For the last 35 years Lyzzick has been a hotel and the essence of its history has not been lost. This is a building of great character, which has been sympathetically adapted to the needs of the 21st century.

Lyzzick Hall Hotel has a wonderful location on the lower slopes of Skiddaw, a mountain in the Lake District. This majestic mountain marks the northern edge of the Lake District. By Car (from the M6): - Leave the M6 at junction 40 and follow the A66 towards Keswick. - Do not enter Keswick, keep right onto the 1st traffic island and turn right. - You are now on the A591 to Carlisle; Lyzzick Hall Hotel is now only 2 miles away on the right.
